Winners Announced for 2016 “cArt aRt” Competition Entries Judged and Winners Selected at City’s 2016 Earth Arbor Day Festival
The City of Santa Clarita announced today the winners of the 2016 “cArt aRt” competition, held in conjunction with the City’s annual Earth Arbor Day Festival, held on April 16-17, 2016. The creative contest prompts residents to transform ordinary recycling bins into extraordinary works of art for the chance to win cash prizes.
Contestants unveiled their completed works of cArt aRt at the City’s Earth Arbor Day Festival. Judges and festival attendees cast their votes for their favorite entries based on five categories: Grand Prize, Most Creative, Best Local Flair, Best Green Theme and Fan Favorite.
The following entries took home prizes for the 2016 cArt aRt competition:
• Grand Prize ($200): “The Force is Strong with Those That Recycle”
• Most Creative ($100): “Don’t Let Sadness Get More Blue – Please Recycle!”
• Best Local Flair ($100): “Spring Bouquet – New Beginnings”
• Best Green Theme ($100): “S-Team”
• Fan Favorite ($50): “We are Groot”
The City’s annual cArt aRt competition is designed to raise awareness about recycling by encouraging residents to creatively decorate free recycling carts, provided by Waste Management, with paint, art supplies and recycled items.
