Creating Independent, Lifelong Learners Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning
Excelling academically is more important than ever and can create a lasting impact on one’s success and one’s quality of life. However, many students often need extra guidance and support to fully understand and grasp specific concepts and reach educational standards. At Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning, K-9 students who require tutoring in language arts and specifically in reading skills are encouraged and guided by experienced teachers and tutors. Owner David Ahn’s learning philosophy for students is founded in the promise “to never leave any child behind.” David and his enthusiastic team of credentialed teachers and experienced staff are passionate about helping every student enjoy learning while not being afraid to make mistakes in order to excel. The ultimate goal at Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning is for children to become strong, independent learners.
A unique after-school learning center, Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning specializes in reading skills such as fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary skills and critical thinking. Patient and understanding instructors lead students in small-group settings which guarantees that every student gains the support they need. Tutoring services are also available in K-9 mathematics, which is facilitated on a one-on-one basis, ensuring that each individual child’s needs are met.
David Ahn explains his educational philosophy and ultimate goal at Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning: “Our vision, our hope, is to help struggling learners.” Since every child meets differing levels of understanding in reading and math, groups and materials are customized to each student’s abilities. Desiring to improve children’s lives in the community is accomplished through instructors who possess a passion for teaching and learning.
At Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning, students broaden their perspectives and excel in comprehension through the direction of guided instructor questions. As 4-5 children read the same material in small groups, vibrant discussions boost the students’ understanding and kindle an enjoyment in reading. One novel is read per month, enriching the students’ lives and academic success. Listening to their peers’ perspective of a text deepens the student’s comprehension of the reading material. Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning promotes a wide variety of genres of literature and provides children with award-winning books recommended by the New York Times and the Department of Education. Through a diverse allotment of reading material, students expand their perspectives and learn to relate the material to their own lives.
Convenient for working parents, Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning is open until 7 p.m. As an after-school learning center, Thinking Tree gives your child the opportunity to strengthen their academic skills while completing homework. Since Thinking Tree’s priority is to support local students and the community in the best possible manner, flexible schedules and pricing are available for families. Thinking Tree: Reading and Learning is a supportive and comfortable center for your child to learn and grow. After completing their academic tasks at Thinking Tree, students can enjoy play with family and friends, and families can invest in each other at the end of the day. Balancing the two forms children into empowered learners and emotionally healthy individuals.
