Don’t Sweat… Maintain Your Air Conditioner!
Summer is right around the corner and with that comes the heat of the sun! We like to bask in the sun but we also want to stay cool in the summer heat, especially in our car!
Is your car’s air conditioner working properly and has it been serviced lately? You just may want to check on it so you aren’t sweating in your car this summer and complaining about the heat!
Checking on your car’s air conditioning system annually is one way to become more efficient in recognizing any problem that may occur.
Here are five tips in helping to maintain your air conditioning system:
First, run the air conditioner at least once a week for about 10-minutes as this will maintain gas pressure to keep your compressor working properly. Be sure to turn it to the highest fan speed and coolest setting.
Run the defrost for about five to 10 minutes as this will help prevent mildew and will clean out excessive moisture which can lead to foul odors in your car. Run your air conditioner in the winter.
In addition to cooling your vehicle, a primary function of your air conditioner is to remove humidity from your car’s cabin. This works really well when you need to remove fog from the windshield to improve visibility. Re-charge your air conditioning system at least every two years to refresh the cooling system with gas and lubricant and last but not least get a full air conditioning service. Go to your local service station every two years before the hottest months of the year begin and get ready for a cool summer!
