Mr. Garry Marshall Graces the CTG Stage! Hollywood Legend Shares His “Happy-ness” with the Canyon Theatre Guild

 Recently, Canyon Theatre Guild had a surprise visitor recently when the very talented Mr. Garry Marshall made an unprecedented appearance at a performance of Happy Days: A New Musical! right here in Old Town Newhall.  Odds are you’ve seen or, at least, heard of classic television shows like The Odd Couple, Laverne & Shirley, and Happy Days.  What about the movie Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts?  I’m sure you and your kids have seen a certain Ann Hathaway film called The Princess Diaries, yes?  What do all of these popular shows and movies have in common?  In one or another, they’ve all been written, created, directed and/or produced by a very talented man, including writing the book for Happy Day: A New Musical!
Mr. Marshall was kind enough to snap a number of photos with the cast and patrons and graciously spoke onstage after the show.  “This was a terrific performance,” he said after complimenting the cast-members by name.  He talked about the various stagings of the Happy Days musical he had seen around the world, saying the CTG production was “…one of the best I [he] ever saw!”  It was truly an honor for the theatre and unique experience that those in attendance won’t soon forget!
