 “Karaoke,” where audience members use a microphone to sing along with an instrumental version of popular songs, usually takes place in bars. Only the Heart N Soul Coffee House and Home Cookin’ Café provides Family Karaoke Night, every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., thus completely do-able on school nights. Heart N Soul’s kitchen opens at 4 p.m. – come early for a reasonably-priced tasty home-cooked meal or snack. Make it a reward for homework well done! Give parents a mid-week break. You will have a blast, but also will be surprised at the quality of talent. Serious, hopeful young artists hone their voices, and develop their style and showmanship skills before a public audience. But Karaoke Night provides a wonderful venue for amateurs, too, who gain confidence and conquer fears. Is your child shy? Don’t be surprised when they want to join others to sing along to their favorite tune.
