Sulphur Springs Union School District State Preschool Programs
Canyon Springs and Mint Canyon State Preschools provide a hands-on quality program for low-income families residing within the Sulphur Springs Union School District. Our low student to teacher ratio (8:1) offers many opportunities for one on one interaction during the three-hour school day.
We are utilizing The Creative Curriculum for Preschools System. By focusing on different “studies” throughout the year, students are encouraged to use their natural curiosity to explore the environment around them. With the implementation of these studies we have noticed wonderful growth in language, which will be very helpful to the students as they transition to Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten (TK) which base their curriculum on the California State Standards. Each classroom has student iPads and a Smart Board. Hands-on student exploration continues at the heart of our curriculum, enhanced with new technology.
Our program is primarily geared towards the child who will be four years old by September 1st. State guidelines permit us to enroll three year olds when all of the qualifying four year olds have been enrolled. District-wide, kindergarten and TK teachers are very happy to have former State Preschool students in their classrooms as the foundation for academic success has been established.
To begin the registration process for the 2016-2017 school year, please stop by the District Office at 27000 Weyerhaeuser Way to pick up a registration packet. Documentation that will be required at the first appointment includes: Current Utility Bill or Rental Agreement, Birth Certificate (or other official record) for each child under 18 in your home, current Immunization Record for the child you wish to enroll and for each employed parent – paycheck stubs for the most recent month.
We look forward to serving another wonderful group of students during the 2016-2017 school year.
