Celebrity Sightings – August 2016

 Our lineup of Celebrity Sightings is heating up this August with some of television and film’s biggest male actors!  Without further ado, we introduce to you Saugus resident Tyler Star, who spotted actor and producer Tom Hanks.  Born to a hospital worker and a cook, Tom grew up in what he refers to as a “fractured family.”  After his parents’ divorce, Tom moved round a lot, living with various step-families.  Though the experience left him a bit confused as a child, he endured no other serious problems.  When he auditioned and failed to earn a part in a college play, he instead took to community theatre, where a director took Tom under his wing and moved him to Cleveland.  It was here Tom’s acting career started.  Tom has appeared in many famed leading roles in film, including Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile, Cast Away and many more.  He has won two Oscars for Best Actor in a Leading Role in Forrest Gump and Philadelphia and was nominated three additional times.
Spotting yet another leading man, Louise Castaldo, owner of 8th & Rail in Newhall, snapped a picture with actor Liev Schreiber.  Of humble beginnings, Liev’s parents divorced when he was 5 years old, and his mother took him to New York City and drove a cab; during this time, the two lived as squatters in abandoned buildings.  Forbidden by his mother from watching color films, Liev grew up on silents and black-and-whites, especially Charlie Chaplin films.  He began acting in college and eventually went on to Yale’s School of Drama.  Live is well known for his roles in Spotlight, Salt, Ray Donovan and more.  Liev has been nominated for four Golden Globe awards, three of which nominations were for Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series for Ray Donovan.  He also has been nominated for two Emmy Awards.
Local residents Shauna Criner and Ryan Vanevenhoven had to make a run for it to catch our next celebrity sighting: television actor Jason George.  Running for team Grey’s Anatomy, Jason, who plays Dr. Ben Warren, participated in the Tough Mudder Half Marathon in San Bernardino.  The team was organized on behalf of the charity My Friend’s Place.  Born in Virginia Beach, Jason considered becoming a lawyer before he decided to give acting a try.  Bulking up his performance resume, Jason is trained in stage combat and fight choreography; he is also a skilled dancer, juggler, tumbler and martial artist and he enjoys track and football.  Jason is best known for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy, Sunset Beach and Eve.  He received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Sunset Beach.
