Dance Is Fun For The Young Ones
There is nothing cuter than seeing two- to five- year- olds steal the show at a dance recital. They have no fear, and love being on stage doing their “own thing.” This is what makes combo (combination) dance classes so special for these adorable kids.
For those of you who don’t know what a “combo” class is, it includes three different forms of dance: Ballet, Tap and Tumbling. Ballet shoes, tap shoes and bare feet are normally used for these three styles of dance. A one-hour class that gives each child 20 minutes in each style weekly. Students develop dance skills such as coordination, balance, rhythm, strength and agility. A combination class like this will joyfully explore art through movement, developing musicality, basic motor skills, and the channeling of energy, while stimulating imagination and promoting creativity. It’s a great way for kids to experience different types of dance in a one-hour period, and two to five years old is a good age to start. The main focus of combination classes is to have fun and to enjoy dance as an everyday activity. Most of the older dancers who are dancing regularly at a studio started dancing at this age. It could become either their passion or favorite recreational art form.
Socialization is a big part of dance classes. The experience of being with other children the same age is good for their social relationships.
We have a combo class at our studio on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m., and are considering adding a weekday morning class. Come in and take a free trial class!
