Diligently Choosing The Best Choices For Your Child’s Success

 “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.” NASU – Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Education takes place in all aspects of life, from the direct instruction that happens when our children sit and listen to teaching, or as they are walking through life and hear or see things that impact their view of what is right and wrong. Needless to say, all the things our children learn help to shape them into the people they are and influence the decisions they make.
As parents we need to be mindful that we help to choose these teaching moments for our children. From the earliest years our children are learning from everything they encounter. They are looking for consistency between what we say and what we do. They are trying to figure out how their perceptions relate to the world around them and understand reality.
As a family with Christian convictions this can be challenging, but rewarding if we stay the course. Author Tim LaHaye has said, “What this life is all about is the battle for your mind, whether you will live your life guided by man’s wisdom or God’s wisdom.”
To be the greatest help we can to the development of our children we must “diligently” pursue the best choices we can for their success.
