ARTree Expands with Second Studio
A family hotspot, the ARTree Community Arts Center is expanding its outreach with a new studio. The new Studio 2 will serve two main purposes: to provide additional classroom space and offer a space to rent on the weekends for artists wanting to share their work.
The ARTree Community Arts Center was started by a very small team described by President Bob Hernandez as “small lean and mean.” The organization was created with the mission to increase interest in the arts among the youth of Santa Clarita Valley and involve the greater community as well. Some of the many projects, the murals in Newhall, can be seen by many in the valley.
The ARTree has been able to expand thanks to donations and community outreach events, as well as commissioned paintings that keep their activities available. Activities are available for all ages and skill ranges in clay, collage, painting, drawing, acrylic paints and many more mediums. The center also hosts community festivals and outreaches, as well as renowned artists and guest speakers. Through theartree.org, these guests have recently included artist Dennis Lewis, whose piece “Reign of Fire” is prominently featured in the Pentagon, as well as Allan Trautman, renowned puppeteer for The Jim Henson Company.
Now a staple of the community, ARTree Community Arts Center is working to fulfill their mission and serve this community.
