HandsOn Santa Clarita’s 9/11 Day of Service

by | Oct 1, 2016 | On The Town

HandsOn Santa Clarita is Santa Clarita’s local volunteer center. They hosted their 4th Annual 9/11 Day of Service event on September 10 at five different locations. The first one was the Boys & Girls Club where they cleaned, organized and painted at the Boys & Girls Club. The second location was at the Castaic Animal Shelter where they did a lot of painting and cleaning. The third location was at the American Legion where they made 120 military care packages for active military. Supplies for the packages were dontated by local schools. The fourth location was at the New Leash On Life where the volunteers cleaned inside the buildings and repaired the roofs and fencing. The fifth and final place was the Placerita Nature Center where volunteers cleaned tons of brush and made dams to prevent anymore damage to Placerita after the Sand Fire. The Sand Fire severely damaged a lot of Placerita Nature Center, so this project was a very important project said some of the volunteers. All of the projects were finished that day. HandsOn Santa Clarita supplied about 300 volunteers that day. HandsOn Santa Clarita has done service projects around town for years, and if you are looking to volunteer somewhere contact HandsOn Santa Clarita today.
