Samantha Marcus Linc’s with Jake Gomez to Help Peers Choose Careers
Samantha Marcus and Jake Gomez are childhood friends with a mission. Although Samantha goes to West Ranch High School and Jake attends Valencia High School they made a pack to stay in touch. Recently they shared their concerns with each other about going to college next fall. The big question on their minds wasn’t which college they would be attending, or even if they would get in, it was what do we want to do with the rest of our lives? They never expected that this very conversation was about to take a very meaningful direction. This was the moment LINC was born.
What is LINC? Link stands for Linking Individuals Network Connections. The purpose of LINC is to help peers choose a career path. Sam and Jake will interview high profile people in their field on a podcast which will then be published on their website and blog. It will also include a written interview. Some of the questions will include what schooling is necessary, salaries for the position and what their day-to-day responsibilities are.
“I think it’s really important that we help other teens said Jake. There are so many careers out there we just don’t know about. There isn’t anything like this out there,” said Samantha. “That’s the beauty of LINC. We’re helping teens all over the world make a very important decision.”
Their first interview is with Eva Vergos, Assistant State Attorney in Pasco County Florida who has tried and prosecuted murder cases, sadly including Samantha’s grandfather Anthony Candiano, who was murdered in 2004.
“It’s going to be an amazing adventure for us said Samantha. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of my grandfather but I know he would be very proud.”
Their first interview will air live on September 27 at 11 a.m. on “The Santa Clarita Business Chamber Spotlight” hosted by Fred Arnold at Hometown Station KHTS. The interview is also available on the KHTS website.
