Winter is coming

Everyone take a deep breath, the summer heat is over, yeah!  As we move into fall, thoughts of cool winter nights begin, and it’s time to start looking for holiday gifts. This year give the gift of good health. Check with your doctor first, but all the studies say that sitting in hot water is good for your heart. The near weightlessness of water will relieve the stress on your joints. In addition, the hot water will push your blood out to your arms and legs filling them with blood all the way out to the tips of your fingers and toes. This is good for you as it is your circulation system that removes toxins from your body. Also there are many exercises that can be done sitting in your spa that are low impact and easy on your body.
If you have a pool and spa combo or just a spa the good news is that the cost for each time you heat your spa is less than a double half cap iced mocha light on the whip cream cup of coffee. For about 50 cents in electricity and $2.00 in natural gas you can heat your spa and use it for 2 hours.
I find the best time to use my spa is in the early mornings when it is just barely starting to get light out.  Between the early morning fog and the steam rising from the spa it is like sitting in clouds. It is super quiet and peaceful and I can hear the thud of the newspaper being delivered.  Taking a spa warms up my body and fills all my muscles with blood, wakes me up and gets my engine going.
The second best time is after a hard day’s work, late at night when the kids are finally asleep and it is cold and crisp out and finally mommy and daddy’s time. My wife and I will put some music on from Pandora, take a spa and have some quiet adult conversation without interruptions.  You might think that it’s cold out and uncomfortable when you get out of the spa.  After 20 min or so in the spa I am so warmed up that when I am getting out I can stand with my arms stretched out and steam rises off my body. I take a two large bath towels and two fluffy bathrobes and toss them in the dryer for 10 minutes, then wrap the bathrobes inside of the towels.  When it is time to get out of the spa we can dry off with warm towels and have toasty warm bathrobes to put on.
