Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley Hosts Teen PSA Video Contest for Scholarship
The Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley (DVC of SCV) is hosting a Teen Public Service Announcement (PSA) video contest themed around “Teen Dating Violence.” The contest asks participants to create a 60-second film to engage viewers, and educate or bring awareness to violence in teen relationships.
The contest is being held in honor of the upcoming Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month in February. Some topics the PSA can cover are gender roles; media literacy, teen dating violence; healthy friendships and relationships; boundaries and consent; anger; and how to help a friend.
Contest rules are listed below:
1. No profanity permitted. Judges reserve the exclusive discretion to reject or disqualify submissions with malicious or inappropriate language.
2. Only one submission per individual or group will be accepted.
3. Must be a high school student.
4. Videos must be in Youtube URL form.
5. Videos must be submitted by Jan. 27, 2017.
6. Video must be a minimum of 60 seconds long.
7. Groups can be a maximum of five people.
Contest Prize: $1,000 scholarship cash prize for winning P.S.A.
All video entries will be screened on February 10, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Savia Center located at 23780 Newhall Ave.
“We really want our youth to be involved in spreading the message of teen dating violence, because the truth is it is happening everywhere and has no barriers to who it affects. We want to bring awareness to parents and community members that our teens are dating and we want to educate our youth and help prevent them from experience dating violence,” says Alexandra Garcia, Youth Prevention Specialist at the Domestic Violence Center.
