Happy New Year from Dynamic Interventions
People often ask me what Dynamic Interventions is. That’s a tough question because we are many different things. As with most businesses, we started as an idea. The idea was to find a way to help students and families in a manner that could not be achieved in the public school system. This led to providing individual counseling and assessment services for students who were struggling academically due to emotional or medical issues like depression, anxiety, autism or ADHD. After working with students in this capacity, we realized that making an impact required more than just seeing students in our offices for an hour or so a week. This turned into providing parents with strategies to work with their students at home, expanding from the individual to the family system.
Once that began, we noticed that we were only reaching a few students and their families. So we went back to the drawing board to figure out how to reach a broader range of clients. This led to approaching larger entities such as school districts and the Regional Center and contracting with them to meet the needs of their students and consumers. There was a need to provide social skills training to students who struggled at school and in the community. So we gathered our resources and developed researched-based curriculum to work with larger groups of students, teaching them the concepts and tools necessary to be successful and happy in their social lives.
Ten years later, here we are. What we are is still an unfolding story. We are many things to many people. To our individual clients, we provide counseling to help manage emotional and family issues that impact academic functioning. We are socialization trainers who work with students so they can make and maintain friendships at home and school. We are speakers that partner with the City of Santa Clarita and College of the Canyons to provide workshops for parents who need support for their children. We are curriculum developers who look at the latest research and create pro-social, anti-bullying programs like Project Friendship, which has been adopted in five school districts. We are consultants who work for school districts like Saugus Union and Sulphur Springs, helping them assess and create programs for students with special needs. Most importantly, we are parents and community members who actively work to make Santa Clarita the best place for students and their families. Happy New Year everyone!
