Hoffman Named New Head of Golden Oak Adult School
Jodie Hoffman has been named the new Supervisor of Adult Education in charge of Golden Oak Adult School, part of the William S. Hart Union High School District.
“Jodie brings a passion for adult education in part because she herself attained her degrees while raising a family,” said Vicki Engbrecht, Superintendent of the Hart School District. “This experience, plus her relentless devotion to the concept of lifelong learning and her devotion to the District, makes her uniquely qualified to lead Golden Oak.”
Jodie is a product of the Golden Oak Adult School, having taken a computer class there after spending seven years as a stay-at-home mom. That class led to a job at College of the Canyons in 1997, where she also completed her Associates Degree. In 2002 she joined the Hart School District, along the way earning not only her Bachelors but also a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. She currently serves the Career and College Readiness Department as Coordinator.
“Golden Oak provided me with the skills I needed to obtain an entry level job at College of the Canyons that launched my career in education 19 years ago,” Hoffman said. “With the support of several excellent mentors, I have worked my way up through the ranks while going to school to complete my education. An adult learner myself, I have experienced many challenges of balancing work and school while raising a family. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to give back by following my passion of building strong educational programs that benefit our community.”
The Golden Oak Adult School Has been serving the community of Santa Clarita and surrounding areas for over 60 years. The school’s mission statement reads: “The mission of Golden Oak Adult School is to provide a nurturing environment that helps students achieve their potential while developing both a strong sense of community and appreciation of lifelong learning.”
