How to Plan the Perfect Rehearsal Dinner
These days, anything goes when it comes to rehearsal dinners. For some couples, keeping within the wedding “theme” is a priority, whereas others may go for a more casual “party” feel. And, despite its name, post rehearsal gatherings do not have to be a dinner. Lunches and brunches have been gaining momentum in the rehearsal scene as a fun alternative to a dinner event. Here are a couple of things to consider when planning your post rehearsal gathering…
Many rehearsal dinners or lunches are held at restaurants. Hosting your event at perhaps a favorite date spot, or some place with a style of cuisine or decor that has special meaning to the bride and groom is a nice way to go.
Consider casual. More and more couples are opting to keep the rehearsal dinner relaxed and low key. Aside from ensuring that this event won’t upstage the actual wedding, a casual post rehearsal celebration can be intimate and comfortable.
The guest list for this event does not have to be extensive. Typically, only close family members, ceremony participants and out of town guests are the ones invited to attend your rehearsal dinner. It is customary to allow those invited to bring their significant other if they have one.
To keep costs down, consider hosting appetizers and cocktails rather than a full sit-down meal. Choosing a theme can also can also be a unique way to feed your guests with fun appetizers or desserts without providing a full dinner. For example, consider a wine and cheese pairing if you are having your wedding at a winery or vineyard. Hosting a BBQ inspired finger food menu for your country themed wedding is a great idea as well.
Picking the perfect spot is essential. Be sure to choose a place that is relatively close for everyone and is able to fit your needs. Selecting a restaurant that has a private dining room is ideal. You want to avoid just reserving a large table in the middle of a loud, busy restaurant as it makes speeches and conversation challenging.
Newhall Refinery has a private dining room known as the “Cellar”. The room is a sophisticated and stylish event/dining space perfect for lunches, cocktail parties, dinners, beer and wine tastings and more!
