DVC of SCV’s Great Escape Gala Raises $20,000
Emotions ran the gamut at the inaugural Great Escape Gala, benefitting the Domestic Violence Center of SCV, held at Hyatt Regency Valencia on Friday, March 17. Executive Director Linda Davies asked that the evening be one of celebration for the women who have escaped homes of domestic violence to find safety and success in a new life, and guests obliged, enjoying a fun-filled evening with a lively auction and informative guest speakers. Up for auction were five gorgeously hand-painted suitcases, filled with Great Escape trips and prizes. All suitcases were painted by local artists and each depicted a different DVC client’s story and experience. The end of the program wrapped up with a compelling, touching video as Davies tours the inside of the local safe house and shares anecdotes about the healing and rebuilding that happens inside. The event was a major success for the organization, raising more than $20,000 for its programs and services.
