Easter Changes Everything!
A little girl came home from school after career day and told her mother, “When I grow up, I want to be a nurse.” Her mother told her, “Look honey, you don’t have to limit yourself to being a nurse. You could be a doctor, you could be the chief of surgery or you could even be the CEO of the entire hospital. You can be anything you want to be.” The little girl thought for a moment and asked, “I could be anything I want?” “Of course,” the mother said, “you can be anything you can dream of.” The little girl’s eyes widened and she became excited as she announced: “Then I’ll be a horse!”
The truth is we cannot be anything we want, but because of Easter, we can be what God desires us to be– alive! In fact, this is why Jesus came. He said in John 10:10– “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Life! Jesus is in the life business. His purpose is to give life!
You might protest and say, “Hey, man, I’m breathing, I’m metabolizing, my heart is beating, I’ve got a pulse, why would I need Jesus to give me life?” Listen my friend, you may be breathing but without Jesus in your life the Bible says you remain dead in your transgressions and sin.
Here is the incredible miracle of Easter. God supernaturally wades into the middle of our muddle and allows his sinless Son to be hung up for our hang ups. Jesus was crucified, bearing in his body the sins of the world. Jesus was buried and on the third day he rose victorious over the grave, death and sin. The result is all who trust in him will be saved from sin and given eternal life.
Remember, Jesus is in the life business. For those who turn to Christ, who trust in His provision of salvation we are forgiven and given new life. This new life in Christ is made abundant because Jesus takes up residence in our hearts transforming not only our hearts but our entire lives as well.
Listen, you can’t be anything you want. But in Jesus Christ, you can be all that God dreams for you to be–Forgiven, set free and made abundantly alive!
