Fourth Annual Art Festival and Sale To be held May 1st at Le Chene French Cuisine
Forty-five Artists from the Santa Clarita Art Association will be featured with their original artwork in the gardens at Le Chene Restaurant, in Agua Dulce, on Sunday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This art show will be for the free enjoyment of the public. All art will be offered for sale to fund scholarships offered to promising High School art students. The club also presents other art opportunities in Santa Clarita. In addition, this year, SCAA will be offering one scholarship to a COC college art student.
The SCAA has been the only non-profit Fine Art Association in Santa Clarita since 1989. The club gives artists direction and opportunites to learn, grow, and present themselves as professional artists worldwide.
Three of the participating artists are as follows:
Jim Bakeman, a woodcarver for nearly 50 years, now retired, has developed his work with wood into more artistic and adventurous pieces. His research of design elements has drawn him to a deep interest in Celtic Art, human faces and wildlife.
Laurie Beth Finkelstein has studied at various institutions including USC School of Music and the Arts, Otis Art Institute and Calif. Staate University. She ultimately chose acrylics and mixed media as her favorite mediums. Presently her “Rock Cultures” artworks are her unique expression of her art.
Nadiya Littlewarrior has a Native American background. She works to create unique art from natural gourds. She also focuses on many other southwestern themes. Nadiya travels to many art venues throughout the southwest. She also has been chair of the Santa Clarita Pow Wow at Hart park several years in the past.
Brunch or lunch may be purchases at the restaurant, located at 12625 Sierra Highway, Agua Dulce. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 661-251-4315. For additional information about the Spring Art Festival, e-mail: scvdody@earthlink.net.
