Join us at Santa Clarita Christian Fellowship Church
Easter can be many things to many people. To some it is a family fun day at the park or at Grandma’s house where the children race around the yard gathering up the brightly colored eggs strategically placed behind bushes and rocks, some peeking out to entice their juvenile rescuers.
To others it’s a day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. For this reason, many Christians refer to this day as Resurrection Sunday. In churches around the world, sermons, plays, poems, monologues and dances tell the story of this important event. Many rise up early in the morning with the sun to attend Sunrise Services re-enacting Mary’s visit to the tomb at daybreak where she found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. Many a young woman has played this role as Mary, including yours truly. What an honor to be the first person to see the risen Messiah!
As we celebrate the Savior, we are reminded of all that transpired to make this day possible. His birth in a stable in Bethlehem, His ministry and the miracles He performed for the people, the religious leaders who saw Him as a threat to their power structure, the betrayal by one of His own, the false accusers, the crucifixion, His death, His burial and now His Glorious Resurrection.
This most compelling story should be told at every Easter gathering. Unlike the Easter Bunny and his chocolate eggs that are devoured and disappear, this story lives on.
If you want to hear more, come celebrate Easter with us on Sunday April 16 at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
