Sinus and Allergy
Sinus and allergy issues are a continual problem for the residents of the Santa Clarita Valley and its surrounding areas. The mixture of frequent high winds and the wide variety of grasses, trees, and weeds in the SCV create a situation where many people have continual, year-round problems. Frequently, symptoms will flare with the change of season or with changes in the weather. These symptoms include frequent sinus infections, difficulty breathing through the nose, mouth breathing, continual running of the nose, post-nasal drip, headaches and facial pain, itchy eyes, loss of taste and smell, fatigue, and a general feeling of being unwell.
In many instances, making the proper diagnosis of sinus and allergy problems is a complicated matter that requires advanced examination tools and testing. At Santa Clarita ENT, we are able to perform a complete work-up in a single visit to our state-of-the art office. A thorough sinus and allergy evaluation may include a nasal endoscopy (in which a specialized telescope is used to examine high up into the nose to look for anatomy problems such as polyps or a deviated septum), a CT scan of the sinuses (a specialized X ray devoted to examining the degree of sinus disease with 100% accuracy), and allergy skin testing (an individualized test to determine every patient’s specific allergy profile). Often times only a specialist can perform these tests.
Once a correct diagnosis is obtained, there are a wide variety of medical and surgical treatment options. Some patients are cured with only medication while others may require allergy shots or drops, all of which are available in our office. If surgery is required, all of our physicians are trained in the most progressive techniques including no-packing septal and sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty, and many other minimally invasive options. All of our surgical patients go home the same day as their procedure with no brusing or swelling!
The residents of the Santa Clarita Valley have entrusted their health to us for over a decade. At Santa Clarita ENT we are thankful for that privilege and we look forward to providing excellent care for many years to come. We look forward to seeing you.
