Find Unique Treasures Here – Closet on Main
Single Mothers Outreach is a grassroots organization that scaffolds families facing sudden housing instability, income loss, emotional trauma, and social deterioration as the result of divorce or widowhood. With a mission to “Empower single parents and their children by providing hope, support, and resources so families can become self-sustaining and thrive,” Single Mothers Outreach (SMO) directly helps women find jobs, earn and education, secure housing, stabilize their children’s emotional states, manage their finances, and help one another. To date, SMO has helped over 3,000 mother-headed households to get back on their feet without falling into the system.
On February 19, 2013 Single Mothers Outreach opened Closet on Main. A store created as an important revenue opportunity for the organization.
Closet on Main customers are served by a group of dedicated and friendly volunteers committed to helping others in our community by sorting, arranging, pricing, and selling donated clothing to the public. The store also sells surplus new clothing to the general public. 100% of the sales proceeds go to supporting Single Mothers Outreach and the families we serve.
Closet on Main also provides a program called “Shop The Closet”. It is private event to help SMO members to shop for free. This event is held once a month and approximately 50 families (per month) receive clothing and other necessary items for themselves and their children.
The store opens Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is closed on Sundays. Closet on Main will be open until 8 p.m. every third Thursday, during Senses Block Party season. Come shop at Closet on Main and help make a difference in the lives of others! “You can find great deals at the store, even a dress to attend the Oscars”
Please contact SMO at 661-288-0117, if you wish to volunteer at The Closet on Main or donate clothing items.
