Giving Cancer the Boot with the American Cancer Society
“Giving Cancer The Boot,” the American Cancer Society of Santa Clarita Valley Relay For Life 2017 was a tremendous fund, hope, and cancer awareness-raising success. Held May 20 at Central Park, the 24-hour team walking event’s proceeds help support innovative ACS scientific research (FYI: ACS has contributed to almost every major discovery in cancer treatment!), free ACS programs and services, advocacy and much. Relay tri-chairs Teresa Kerr, and husband/wife Brad and Laura Peach, along with their hard-working event leadership team/event volunteers worked the better part of the year since Relay 2016 to bring new energy and ideas to this Relay.
In 18 years since the SCV’s first Relay, our community has raised over $7,200,000! Giving Cancer the Boot kicked in a lot of needed ACS money: $360,000 and it’s still coming in.
If you would like to donate and help the ACS create more birthdays, please go to www.scvrelay.org or call the local ACS office at 661-298-0886 option 3.
