July!
Although it’s hot outside, July is my favorite month because it contains my favorite day, July 4th. My family came to this country as Hungarian refugees and I am grateful every day that they chose to come here. July 4, 1776 is the most important day in history, possibly in the world. At that time, we created a system of government that is being emulated by many countries in the world and continues to foster greatness. Doing business here is so easy compared to so many other countries: no graft or bribes. It’s honest and straightforward.
The freedom to speak freely is another thing I greatly value, especially coming from a communist country. In Russia, China and the entire Middle East, people and especially women in the Middle East still can’t speak freely. I am grateful to be a woman in America.
In this country, you can make a life for yourself out of nothing. You can dream dreams here and make them come true. It is amazing that every single sibling I have is thriving and we are all grateful to this country for the opportunities it provides. I became a citizen in 1979 and having an American passport means everything to me.
I am especially grateful for everything we’ve been able to achieve in this rich environment where women can do anything. I’ve owned a construction company since I was 30 and never had a problem related to my gender. I’ve heard people express surprise when I show up to do a job, but they always trusted me enough to do a great job for them. I’ve always been the only woman on the job site and have been accepted by everyone. That was in the early 90s. The new generation doesn’t think twice about a woman showing up. I love it!
So, many thanks to so many wonderful Americans who accepted us and helped us become citizens, and God bless the United States of America!
