Safe Firework Alternatives – Stay safe this 4th of July holiday
Looking for the 4th of July fun without the firework danger that comes from dealing with explosives? Well there are plenty of alternative patriotic actives that you and your family can do to celebrate the creation of America.
According to the Los Angeles Times there were over 11,400 firework-related injuries on the 4th of July last year. Because of these sobering statistics, and the multitude of other problems at-home-firework shows have caused, fireworks are illegal to fire off without a permit in the Santa Clarita Valley.
But this does not mean that you cannot have an exciting, fun-filled 4th of July! In fact, here are a few firework alternatives that can make this celebration the best one yet:
1. Fill water balloons with paint: Try filling water balloons with red, white, and blue paint, dress up in white clothes and have a water balloon fight. You can also hang up a tarp or sheet and decorate it with the colorful balloons for a beautiful art piece.
2. Make confetti poppers: These little poppers will give you the bang that is tradition for the holiday without the danger.
3. Paint one another with glow in the dark body paint: When the sun goes down, continue the party by drawing on one another and seeing how you can light up the dark in a fun new way.
4. Glow sticks: Speaking of fun in the dark, glow sticks are a great way to keep a festive feel without any explosives and getting the whole family involved.
5. Chalk Art: Both glow in the dark and regular chalk offers hours of entertainment for the family and can result in a fun, patriotic, 4th of July tradition.
Try some of these non-firework activities this year with family and friends to make a safe, fun holiday to remember. You can also attend one of the many Independence Day firework displays happening in and around Santa Clarita Valley.
