A Baseball Star on the Rise! – Spotlighting Our Youth
Some people do not discover what they want until later in life. Some people are just born with raw talent. Since the age of three, Christos Stefanos has known his love for baseball. Through an exclusive interview with The Magazine of Santa Clarita: His sister, Felicia, said she would constantly see her brother doing “baseball like” things; wielding bat like objects and hitting things around the house.
One can say sportsmanship and athleticism is in his blood. He comes from a family of athletes: his maternal grandmother played baseball in Cuba, his mother played baseball/softball in high school and adult leagues, his sister played Soccer and managed her High School Volleyball team and his father played football, shot put and wrestling. From his family of athletes, he has learned to be a great team player and person.
Stefanos has become a baseball star, his credentials and achievements include being chosen 2017 Cal-Hi Sports All State First Team, 2017 ALL-CIF Division 1 First Team, Foothill League Player of the year and MVP of his team at West Ranch High School, just to name a few.
He is also a stellar High School student. He currently finished his Junior year with a 4.18 GPA on a 4.0 scale. This young man has even given back to our community through several ventures. He has assisted in the Special Olympics as well as conducting physical education classes for challenged children.
He is known to family and friends as friendly, excited for life and what it has to offer, caring and very goal oriented. Stefanos disclosed his plans after graduation. He wants to go on to play college baseball while majoring in Business. He hopes to one-day play for the major leagues. When posed with the question his mom could not choose just one time she was most proud of her son. Linda simply answered with, “There are so many, just being his mom has been my proudest moment.”
Stefanos’ father Leo mentions “You are always proud of your own child but when you get verification from other parents coming up and saying ‘you have an awesome son,’ that makes it all that much better”.
Continuing the interview, we asked how has he been able to excel in everything he does? He endearingly replied, “My parents are my biggest supporters, they make almost every game and I can always come to them for anything.” He ended with, “And there is nothing in this world that I could say or do to repay them for all they have done to get me to the point I am today.”
This season, catch Christos playing for West Ranch High School Varsity Baseball Team and the Chicago Cubs Scout. Go Wild Cats!
