Laura’s Book Corner The Apothecary by Malie Meloy
RATING: 5/5 stars
I loved this book! This book had a few subtle illustrations to keep your mind going. It had description and figurative language sweeping through each page. The ending was just as much as a surprise as the other events in the book. I rushed to get the second book, The Apprentices, which is just as intriguing as the first. Malie Meloy did a wonderful job of writing that book.
SUMMARY:
Janie, a fourteen-year-old American girl, is forced to move from L.A. to London, England and she hates it. She starts school in England and a stubborn boy named Benjamin catches her eye. His father is the local apothecary and a very mysterious man. England’s enemy, the Soviet Union, has plans to set off a bomb and destroy the country. The apothecary tries to stop the Soviet Union. Janie and Benjamin want to help. The apothecary says no, but of course, Janie and Benjamin disobey and help anyway. They use this mysterious book the apothecary has and soon come to experience weird and crazy events on their journey to save the country. Read the book to find out more! I recommend it!
