The Power of Preschool

 Preschoolers all want power! As parents, we occasionally struggle with giving our children the appropriate amounts of power. As a parent of three boys, I understand first hand how children crave to be in charge. I like to refer to those times as “choose your battles” and trust me I do!
Children often know what they want and sometimes will stop at nothing until they have the power to control things in their world. This is a very normal stage of development for children to go through. Ultimately, as parents, we all want the same end goal. What is best for our children? Will they become confident individuals? Will they feel successful when they go off to Kindergarten for the first time?
Why not give your child the Power of Preschool? Preschool is a gift to your already small but mighty child. Preschool gives children the opportunity to feel big, strong and powerful! When young children attend preschool, they are able to make choices on their own and bravely be away from family members and feel good about it. They quickly learn that Mom/Dad always come back and that they can do it on their own. They also learn life-long skills like how to share, take turns, get along with peers and use their words to get what they need. Letting children put their self-help skills to good use also makes for a powerful and confident child. Young children feel good about themselves and will nurture a high self-esteem when they are given the power to do things on their own.
At Creative Years we encourage children to make choices daily by providing a variety of centers and materials to work with. We involve the children in decision-making and the planning of activities. Children are invited to try new things in a positive and loving way. Because our preschoolers are given the power to make their own choices, our students leave us truly feeling powerful and confident. They are successful when entering the world of elementary school because they have been given a great foundation and the POWER to do things on their own!
