Learning About a Lifesaving Tool

by | Sep 26, 2017 | On The Town

On Thursday, August 24, groups of deputies at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received training on the use of naloxene, commonly known as Narcan®, so that they can immediately treat opioid overdoses. In addition to the training on the use of the medication, they also received refresher lessons on CPR/First Aid. It all goes hand in hand.
There are many times when our deputies are first on scene at medical emergencies, including opioid overdose situations, and now with the deployment of Narcan®, they will be able to take action and render assistance in the form of a lifesaving medication.
We are glad to have this valuable tool at our station because it saves lives. We want to help individuals suffering from opioid addiction so that they get another chance at life, get the help they need, and get better. That is our hope…that is our mission.
