Students Invited to Take Part in 30th Anniversary Contest Elementary Students Asked to Get Creative to Celebrate Santa Clarita
The City of Santa Clarita is inviting our younger residents to take part in the 30th anniversary celebration. This fall the City is launching its 30 Things for 30 Years contest. This creativity driven contest gives kids the chance to reflect on their favorite things about our City and submit a unique entry for a chance to win a party on the official City birthdate!
Here is how it works. Elementary school students are asked to come up with whatever representation of 30 things they want, in honor of the City’s big day. They could write 30 poems about Santa Clarita, collect 30 bags of food to donate to a local charity, paint a 30th mural at their school, create a play about Santa Clarita, take 30 pictures of 30 oak trees, or write biographies of 30 important City people. The options are endless!
Any student, class, club or group from a local elementary school can take part in this contest. Depending on the type of submission it can be emailed, mailed, uploaded or performed.
The winning group’s school will then be the location for the City’s birthday party. On December 15, 2017 the school will party with the City Council, Sheriff’s Department and Fire Department. The celebration will include tasty treats, fun, entertainment and information on what 30 years of cityhood has brought to Santa Clarita.
For more details on the contest and how to submit your entry, please visit www.santa-clarita.com/30Years. Deadline for entries is 5 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017. A compilation of entries will be presented at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, and a winner will be selected.
