JCI Santa Clarita’s Santa’s Helpers 2017

Christmas is coming and Santa needs your help! JCI Santa Clarita, more affectionately known as the Jaycees, has kicked off their annual holiday project – Santa’s Helpers – providing an unforgettable Christmas to underprivileged children in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Shortly after JCI Santa Clarita’s inception in 1998, they wanted to find a way to give back to the community during the holiday season and in 1999 – Santa’s Helpers was born.  In Santa’s Helpers first year, the Jaycees held a toy drive to fulfill the wishes of the children who had written to Santa.  The gifts were then delivered by the Jaycees dressed up as Santa and his merry crew on Christmas Eve.
Nineteen years later, Santa’s Helpers has grown into JCI Santa Clarita’s largest and longest running project.  The project has now grown as the Jaycees host a Christmas party for Santa Clarita Valley’s underprivileged families, in addition to a community-wide toy drive.  At the Christmas Party, the children get visited by Santa and his friends, they have the opportunity to ice skate (the first time for many!), and they get to enjoy a variety of other activities.  This event truly provides a memorable Christmas for many of these families.
Serving over 250 children in 2016, the Jaycees hope to serve even more in 2017.  However, they cannot do it without support from the community.  Their biggest needs are sponsorships, cash and gift cards for the older children, and volunteers!
