UCLA Interventional Radiology Arrives in Santa Clarita
UCLA Health System now offers Interventional Radiology (IR) services in Santa Clarita. Our interventional radiology team brings accessible, convenient, and expedited services to patients and referring physicians in your community. You can now access physician consultation, minimally invasive procedures, and medical imaging close to home.
Interventional radiologists use minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions throughout the body, including peripheral arterial disease, varicose veins, deep venous thrombosis, and cancer. Using advanced imaging, your physician is able to treat complex conditions with unprecedented precision, smaller risk of complications, and faster recovery time.
The relatively new specialty of IR grew from innovation and creativity in response to difficult cases. Since its inception in the 1950s, IR has grown by leaps and bounds, not only offering non-surgical alternatives to patients, but also enhancing surgical practice. The specialty began with physicians’ attempts to improve the heart visualization methods of the day, which led to the realization that these new visualization technologies could be used to perform procedures as well as map blood vessels.
Since then, IR has expanded from vascular procedures into myriad body systems, bringing with it new technologies and treatments. It has revolutionized the treatment of many common ailments. Our UCLA interventional radiologists are committed to the advancement of medical practice and technology, ensuring that our patients receive treatments at the cutting edge of medical care. Our IR physicians provide services for conditions that have often required surgery or hospitalization in the past, all within a fully equipped outpatient center in your community.
Interventional Radiology offers treatments for disease in virtually every area of the body. In addition to diagnostic imaging, we provide the following services:
• PICC/ Port catheter placement
• Bone biopsies
• Breast biopsies
• Fine needle aspirations
• Prostate embolization
• Consultation for therapeutic IR procedures
