Loving Easter

 Each year we look forward to spring and Easter as a time of renewal and growth. This idea is closely tied to the natural change of the seasons as the natural world dies in winter and is reborn with growth in spring. This understanding of the natural world relates to Easter, where we rejoice in the resurrection of Christ. We celebrate that Christ died and was raised to bring life to the world, just like we see in the blooming of the flowers and trees.
As much as Easter has meant new life, Easter is about love, the love of a God seeking after us relentlessly only to draw us into an embrace of love. That relentless love is what we experience in Christ’s life and sacrifices for us. It is love and not fear or punishment that motivates Christ to go the way of the Cross, and it is love, not fear or punishment that drives God to bring Christ back to life in order that we, God’s beloved, have life. Celebrate God’s love with us at Santa Clarita UMC. Starting the first Sunday of March we will talk about God’s love all the way up to Easter.

Sunday, March 11th — “A Love Giving it All”
Sunday, March 18th — “Love in Trouble”
Sunday March 25th –“What Love Does!”
Sunday, April 1, Easter — “Just Kidding, Love really does Win!”
