Whimby’s Comes to Santa Clarita
Donate, give back and get involved—Whimby’s gives residents a new place to shop for gently used clothing and goods. A business four-years in the making, Whimby’s owner Tracey Moss is extremely passionate about her new business venture.
“We just opened in January and the community reception has been wonderful,” says Tracey.
A retail industry veteran and volunteer-minded individual, Tracey offers schools and non-profit organizations the opportunity to sign up with the store to earn funds from donations. With public school funding cut left and right, Tracey found a way to get involved and give back to our local schools and youth programs.
The 3,000 square foot space holds their inventory including youth, teen, women’s and men’s clothes as well as sporting goods, novelties and household items. They also have collectibles, vintage and antique goods.
“Although our store is a second-hand store, we have it designed so it doesn’t feel like a used clothing store. We wanted a fun and inviting atmosphere that is not overwhelming,” says Tracey. “It’s been a family affair setting up the store. My husband and sons have helped, we have Boy Scout families that help with hauling items and my sister-in-law even created a baby section for us.”
Whimbys was organized to support the youth of the Santa Clarita Valley by selling gently loved merchandise and donating the proceeds to help fund programs that have been reduced in recent years. They accept donations including: gently used clothing, purses, shoes, knick-knacks and collectibles, decorative items, small appliances, children’s merchandise, camping and sporting goods, books/videos as well as video games.
They offer simple collection guidelines: All donations must be in good, clean working order. We cannot accept items that are unsellable, torn, worn or broken. (if you would not buy it, don’t donate it please)
Whimbys is located at 19371 Soledad Canyon in Canyon Country. It is open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, you may call 661-542-7091.
