Shop Without Guilt at Closet on Main
As you take a stroll down Main Street in Newhall you may notice a hidden gem called Closet on Main. When you stumble upon it, you may quickly assume it is a high-end boutique with expensive merchandise, but if you take a look at the prices you will be surprised to find it is a re-sale boutique of new and gently-used items.
The store holds a chic and elegant element, not matched by an average thrift store. Although some items may be gently used, each item placed on the floor is screened to ensure quality. This classy boutique is almost entirely volunteer-run, the eagerness and heart of service by volunteers makes for excellent customer service.
Most importantly, at the core of the store, there is a heart of service. All proceeds from Closet on Main are directed to Single Mothers Outreach (SMO) whose mission is to “empower single parents and their children by providing hope, support, and resources so that families can become self-sustaining and thrive.”
With each donation and purchase, a mother-in-need receives diapers for her newborn or a child with torn shoes receives a new pair. Closet on Main plays a role in facilitating SMO to provide programs and services such as food, diapers, clothing, financial classes, therapy, holiday programs and so much more.
In addition, SMO members are given the opportunity to shop free of charge once a month for themselves and their families at SMO’s “Shop the Closet,” program. The cost of living in a city like Santa Clarita is expensive and our members struggle to provide everyday necessities, let alone new clothing.
As the store is volunteer-run, volunteers are always desired. Consider joining the team of passionate and loving volunteers as they unite in support of single parents in Santa Clarita. Closet on Main is also happy to take all new and gently-used clothing donations at the Newhall location.
