Celebrating Our Mothers 2018
Each year we request photos for our Mother’s Day photo contest, and the one thing that I look forward to is the story. Why do these women mean so much to these children, friends or family? The reasons never cease to amaze me, as well as inspire me on my own journey through motherhood. As I was searching for a quote to include, something purposeful and straight to the point—like my mom—I found this… and it could not be more truthful!
“If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?” —Milton Berle
Cheers to all the moms out there, who like me, are thankful that evolution has not granted us two more hands.
1. I’m a 93-year-old mother, grandmother and great grandmother but I’m not writing about me. I’m writing about my grandson’s mother-my daughter. She was his teacher, savior and mother above all. She taught him right from wrong, to read and write and made sure he got to school every day. She disciplined him and gave him freedom. Today he has become a good business man and she did this all as a single mother from the time he was seven years old. She has always worked, and she owns her own business and she is 65 and her son is 36 and well established. She ended up with me, dressing me, helping me bath, feeding me and still working- plus much more. – Dorothy Medina
2. My mom (Linda Bundy) is an inspiration to me and she has been since I was a little girl. Every week she would visit disabled people in group homes and elderly people in convalescent homes. She knew them all by name and could make conversation with anyone. Their faces would light up, and I could see she made their entire day simply because she volunteered her time and made them feel special. Nowadays, my mom and I both own golden retrievers who are certified therapy dogs and we get to volunteer together at Children’s Hospital to make the day a little brighter for sick kids. Truly my mom is happiest when she is helping someone in need, and that is why she is an inspiration! – Debbie Abramson
3. My mom is a wonderful inspiration and an amazing role model that I look up to everyday. My mom is a warrior, kind, loving, pretty, grateful, a fighter, strong, positive, and so much more great things. My mom has shaped me to who I am today. I’m so proud of her for raising my brother and I to be so grateful, humble, and kind. I’m very grateful and lucky that I have an amazing and wonderful mom. She’s so positive and inspires people by spreading positivity everywhere she goes. She inspires me to be kind, humble, grounded, positive, and grateful.
4: My Mom Renee Marshall is the greatest! She really takes care of me and helps me grow. She does all sorts of things for me and my sister and our friends. She teaches us to be good people and she wants us to have fun, too. She shows us how to be good people. She always gives me her love and support, and I really admire that. I love my mom Renee Marshall. – Zachary Marshall
