Seizing Kelsey
What do you do when doctors don’t know what’s wrong with your child? More importantly, what wouldn’t you do? As a mother of two, I immediately ran wild in thoughts… I can only imagine how the Kling family felt. Ammon and Priscilla Kling, parents to Kelsey and Landon have been looking for answers for nearly a decade. When Kelsey was four years old, her preschool teacher noticed she wasn’t learning like the other kids. The Kling’s had Kelsey evaluated and began the journey of learning what was happening to their daughter. Three years after that first concern, their lives changed forever… and now they work tirelessly to raise the funds for treatments and procedures that are not covered by insurance.
“It was Superbowl Sunday – we were at a friend’s house and Ammon was out of town. Kelsey mentioned her stomach hurt, and she felt warm, so I decided to take her home. I called the doctor and they suggested Motrin and Tylenol. It was later that night that I was laying with Kelsey when I felt her start to move. At first, I thought she was just fussing around and encouraged her to go back to sleep. But the movement didn’t stop. I called 9-1-1 and we rushed her to Henry Mayo. That was the first time Kelsey had a seizure,” shared Priscilla. That day was the beginning of figuring out what was causing Kelsey’s seizure’s and more recently, Brain Atrophy.
“Kelsey is declining rapidly and our goal for holding the fundraiser at Wolf Creek Brewery on August 12 is to help raise money for tests and procedures that aren’t covered by medical insurance,” said family friend and executive producer Tracy Finely.
So how can we help the Kling family?
As a community, Santa Clarita goes above and beyond to support our fellow neighbors! So… we are asking you to save the date for Sunday, August 12 to join everyone at Wolf Creek Brewery for a fundraiser to support the Freckled Face Warrior, Miss Kelsey Kling. It starts at 11:30 a.m. with music, food trucks, face painting, clothing from Kelsey’s Kollection, a cornhole tournament (run by SCV Cornhole), raffles, and a silent auction. It’s a guaranteed good time so don’t miss out. You can also shop Kelsey’s Kollection at Tranquility Salon & Spa, 23300 Cinema Drive, Suite 250 in Valencia. The cornhole tournament has a cash prize and you must pre-register at www.scvcornhole.com. The tournament begins at noon, and costs $25 per person or $50 per team.

“Fractured by the unknown but motivated by hope, Kelsey’s parents Priscilla and Ammon are desperate to find answers and ultimately a cure for their ailing daughter, Kelsey. Our goal is to broadcast as much information as possible about Kelsey’s undiagnosed condition, which include seizures and brain atrophy, so that doctors, researchers, and parents of children with similar struggles can help solve this puzzle. Answers to various pieces of the puzzle may already exist, and we hope to find them by encouraging the community to share.
Throughout the years, Kelsey has been seen by a fantastic collection of doctors, including specialists at UCLA, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Children’s Hospital Orange County, Cedars-Sinai and the Mayo Clinic. She has undergone a multitude of medical and genetic tests. Currently, Kelsey is enrolled in a clinical trial at UCLA under the Undiagnosed Disease Network. By sharing Kelsey’s case, and encouraging others to share their stories, we hope the exchange of information will help other families struggling to find answers.”
