2018 Burrito Bowl Champs – Hart High School!

On August 14, the Foothill League high school players kick off their football season doing more than just practicing. They eat as fast as they can and all for a great cause. It was an extremely close race with the fastest recorded time. Winning by only 3 seconds to last year’s champs, Saugus High, 5 linemen from Hart High were able to inhale a 4-foot burrito in 90 minute and 26.25 seconds, winning $2,000 for their Football and Cheer program. Meanwhile, the cheer teams battle in a banner competition with Golden Valley Cheer winning $300 for their display of art and spirit.
The 9th Annual Burrito Bowl is coordinated through the WiSH Education Foundation with the help of local businesses to raise thousands of dollars for the football, cheer, dance and band programs. By selling raffle tickets for the $1,500 grand prize shopping spree, as well as many other prizes, students raise valuable dollars for their program. This year’s event raised close to $25,000, all of which went back directly to the participating booster programs.
Hosted by television host Mark Walberg, from Antique Roadshow, along with a hard-working committee and great sponsorships from Frontier Toyota, Six Flags Magic Mountain, La Cocina, and Westfield Valencia Town Center. The highly anticipated event was a huge success. In 2019, SCV Burrito Bowl will hold their 10th Annual Burrito Bowl!
