Celebrity Sightings – September 2018
Did you know the Gentle Barn is home to more than a hundred animals, and you can visit them every Sunday when they are open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.? Well pop sensation Meghan Trainor does, and she was spotted at the Gentle Barn last month via social media. After signing a record deal with Epic Records in 2014, Trainor rose to fame with the release of her major-label debut studio album, Title (2015). The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, went on to sell over one million copies domestically, and produced three top 10 singles. Her second major release Thank You was released in 2016, preceded by its lead single «No” which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2017, Trainor released the single “I’m a Lady”, which appeared in the animated film Smurfs: The Lost Village.
Local resident Eve Bushman had the most amazing chance encounter when she met legend and Vitner Donna Mills, best known for her role on Knots Landing as Abby. Mills landed the role of Abby Cunningham on the primetime soap opera Knots Landing in 1980 and was a regular on the show until 1989. For this role, she won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Villainess three times, in 1986, 1988, and 1989.
Our last Celebrity Sighting comes two-fold as it includes local celebrities Alesia Humphries and Tom Costello of the band Dole Humphries, met legendary sister-group Wilson Philips. They are pictured at the Libby Bowl during sound check where they opened for the songstresses. Wilson Phillips is an American vocal group consisting of Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson, and Chynna Phillips, the daughters, respectively, of Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas. Their 1990 eponymous debut album sold over 10 million copies worldwide and placed three number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, making the trio the best-selling female group at the time. In 1990, the group won the Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year for “Hold On,” and in addition was nominated for five Grammy Awards and two American Music Awards.
