Tell Me Something Good – September 2018
Okay Santa Clarita, I think we can all agree that everyone is happy about school being back in session. The traffic, not so much. But I am even more excited because my first born just started Kindergarten. If you really read this Magazine article for article you will find that I have mentioned that lovely fact in maybe four different stories… what can I say, I can’t wait to see the big things this kid does.
In my collection of good news this past month, I was happy to hear great news of all kinds… money saving… adventurous travel… new beginnings and blessed continuations of friendship… So, with that being said, I am happy to bring you some “Good News” Santa Clarita.
The Parr family was able to receive some much-needed heavy hauling help from the City when they removed the giant tree from their yard. The Parr’s are looking forward to creating a beautiful new front yard landscape.
Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita member Sandi Naba just returned from an adventurous trip to Japan for the 45th Biennial SIA Convention held this year in Yokohama, Japan at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center. The Convention theme was Stars, Dream and Wishes, hosting more than 2500 women and men from around the world. Sandi shared her personal highlights from the four-day adventure including a trip to Mt. Fuji during a typhoon along with the last day of the convention where the local Camino Real Region won the Outstanding Region Award!
Good Luck to the Valencia High School Football Program as they enter into the 2018 preseason. Coach Burt Dominguez submitted their first “family photo” shared via Twitter last month. I personally must wish them my best in bringing home a championship season as a proud VHS alumni class of ’98. Go. Fight. Win. Vikings!
Another bit of fantastic news comes from local student athlete Allison Jacobs, who will be traveling to Honduras along with her teammates to represent the United States on the Youth National Volleyball Team. The 12 girls will compete at the NORCECA Girls’ U18 Continental Championship. We send them off with all of the best wishes and positive vibes we can. Play to win, and have fun ladies!
And our last bit of good news is very near and dear to all of us at The Magazine of Santa Clarita, as our very own graphic designer Ati Hafizi recently became a proud home owner. After much searching with her daughter Melody and son-in-law Kyle, they found the perfect home surrounded by lush greens and quiet neighbors in Friendly Valley. We wish Ati much happiness and fortune as she makes this new house a home… and we can’t wait for the housewarming party!
