CBD Oils and Your Pet
About a year ago I started getting a lot of questions about CBD oil. Legalization has made this product more mainstream and some of my clients were trying it for their animals. For those not familiar, CBD, or cannabinoid, is a broad term covering compounds found in cannabis (marijuana). While certain cannabinoids are useful for pain management, some cannabinoids like THC are psychoactive and toxic to pets.
As a healthcare professional, I take the responsibility of recommending drugs very seriously. With many CBD products flooding the market that were tainted with THC and toxic or of dubious quality, I could not recommend these products to my patients. So, I waited.
Shortly before my dog had her bad days, a new product popped up on my radar. Ellevet, a CBD product was evaluated through a trial at Cornell University by a well-known veterinarian. In the trial, most clients reported improvement in their pet’s arthritic pain as well as being safe. Here was a safe product with proven efficacy that I could try on Teya. Teya’s response was almost immediate. Her mobility improved, she seemed happier and more interested in engaging with us. She showed no signs of toxicity and started constantly nudging me with her nose for affection again.
Ellevet has made a huge difference in my dog’s quality of life. Since then many of my clients have been trying it on their dogs and the overwhelming response has been positive. Ellevet is in stock at Copper Hill Animal Clinic for cats and dogs suffering from arthritis. Give it a try, it may make a world of difference in your pet, too.
