HandsOn Santa Clarita’s 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance

by | Sep 25, 2018 | On The Town

HandsOn Santa Clarita hosted their 6th Annual 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance on Saturday, September 8 in honor of those who rose in service and in remembrance of those whose lives were lost on 09/11/01. Thanks to Title Sponsor, StayGreen Inc. and Presenting Sponsor Firehouse Subs, and with the help of over 350 volunteers, HandsOn Santa Clarita was able to coordinate and complete service projects at six different non-profits. This included the creation of 600 military and first responder packages thanks to donations from various businesses and individuals within the community. At Hart Baseball & Softball 80 volunteers, under the guidance from City of Santa Clarita staff, were able to paint, construct, and install new bleachers at two of the fields! Over 30 trees were planted at Towsley Canyon due to the hard work of over 40 high school students.
HandsOn Santa Clarita is the SCV’s local nonprofit volunteer center. Their mission is to promote volunteerism and philanthropy by connecting individuals, groups, and businesses with other local nonprofits through traditional volunteering and large scale service events.
