Commemorating World War I Centennial at the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony
The City of Santa Clarita including the Santa Clarita City Council, veterans, families and more join together for a special Veterans Day Ceremony to commemorate the centennial of the ending of World War I, as well as honor local veterans, currently-serving military and their families. The ceremony began 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Veterans Historical Plaza.
Beginning with the tolling of the Bells of Peace, which honor those who served and sacrificed in World War I and signify the 100th anniversary of the end of the war. Featured speakers included members of the Santa Clarita City Council, Chaplain Amos Clemmons and Ted Olsen, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. The event also included a reading of “In Flanders Field” by Vietnam veteran Jerry Rhodes and a performance of “Over There,” by Jerry Danielsen, Lisa Vig and Cynthia Moller.
