Laughing With Di – December 2018
Kids have a logic all their own. Here’s a holiday gift from me. A few words of wisdom from kids I know…
Let’s have a laugh.
“I know I am someplace because I look down, see my body, so that means I am there.”
“If you were my age, four, and you went to bed, my bed, like a boy, and there was a monster in the closet, would you be scared?”
“I put my lion under the covers so we can meet there later in the night.”
“When I am just thinking about how to do something or where to go in my mind, I am venturing.”
“I am Goofy. My short name is goof.”
At the Renaissance Faire, a kid knocked down a dividing wall at one of the candle making booths. He turns and says, “Whoa, I didn’t see that comin’.”
“My older sister won’t get more shots until she is eleven. I will get a shot if I don’t eat my dinner.”
Looking at a stormy sky and describing a cloud as “pitch purple.”
At school, I had this exchange with my grandson. The Fish and the Whales were scheduled to use the computers. I asked if he was a Fish or a Whale. He waits for a second, looks me straight in the eyes and says, “Who do you think I am?” I said, “A fish.” (wildly correct guess). I say, “If we were playing the game Survivor, you would probably be the shark.” He smiles and as I walk away he says, “Grandma, it’s Survive.”
When asked about his babysitter’s children the little boy said, “Sally am a little girl, Karen am a big kid and Mark is a baby.” How does he fit into that description? He replied, “I’m a visitor.”
Simple, yes?
