With a deep empathy for people and providing real solutions for her patients’ dental concerns, Dr. Marlice Patam joins the doctors at SCV Dental Care. As an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Patam assists with the diagnosis and surgical approach to treat the cases that involve disease, injury and defects improving the functionality of the jaw as well as aesthetics for her patients. In plain English, that means they are trained to do just about any surgery to correct a number of various issues with the mouth and jaw. Marlice also takes great pride in giving her patients the ability to smile again, without pain or discomfort.
Dr. Patam is a UCLA graduate and completed her residency there as well. It was actually during her residency that she encountered the very oral surgeon that inspired her path to becoming an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon.
“I had my wisdom teeth removed as a teenager, and through that process my love for helping others was solidified in surgery. My procedure was such a positive experience, I thought I want to do this for other people. So, I did. I began my training, and with every achievement I kept pushing forward. Each test completed, or class mastered meant a new challenge in my journey, and I welcomed that,” said Dr. Patam.
As a wife and mother, Dr. Patam brings kindness and caring approach with empathy to each case she takes. She sees a variety of cases that can be very straight forward, as well as more complicated cases that include tumors, pathology, dental implants and even grafting bones in jaw reconstruction. Whatever the case presents, Dr. Patam takes her approach using experience, training and passion for what she does.
“I am a very fortunate woman. I have worked hard to be where I am today — to have my career and family time in balance… well as balanced as a working mom and wife can be,” she says.
