Troops and Veterans Remembered
Santa Clarita kept their hometown troops and veterans in their hearts during the holidays. Prayer Angels for the Military kept community members, of all ages, very busy preparing care packages for troops and sending warm wishes from their community. Saint Clare’s Church and Newhall Church of the Nazarene have partnered with the Prayer Angels for many years to support local troops with care packages during their deployments. Special holiday packages, and stockings were also prepared for hometown veterans, through the local Veterans Center in Newhall. Special thanks to O’Reilly Auto Parts in Newhall, and Big John’s Performance in Valencia for remembering local troops and veterans during the holidays.
Santa Clarita honored their military, both past and present, during the 13th Annual Military Honor Christmas Tree Lighting and Menorah Lighting. Hosted by Prayer Angels for the Military, with SCV Young Marines, and local veterans groups assisting. This heartfelt community event took place on Saturday, December 1st at the Veterans Historical Plaza in Newhall. This very special event is proudly supported by the City of Santa Clarita, as well as sponsored by The Andy Gump Family and Peet’s Coffee.
Help is needed for the new year, from local businesses, schools, youth groups, churches, organizations and community members of all ages. “Winter Packages” with beanies & scarves will continue to be mailed out through January. Donations and cards are needed to prepare for the “Hearts for Heroes” special Valentine’s Day packing in February. A donation list is available online and tax-deductible donations can also be made at: www.prayerangelsforthemilitary.com.
