A Piggy’s Birthday
We are having a birthday party for one of our piggies on April 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and we would love for you to join us. For 12 years Zeus has rolled over for tummy rubs, been gentle with little hands, given hugs to at risk, inner city, and special needs children, and been a good friend for us all. We want to make sure he knows how much he is loved and appreciated.
Our pig Zeus is turning 12 in April, and he is the oldest pig we have ever had in the history of The Gentle Barn! Farm pigs are genetically engineered to grow very big, very fast, so they can be slaughtered at only six months old. Unlike their wild counterparts who live till twenty, farm pigs get so abnormally large that typically by the time they are four or five, they cannot walk and have to be helped out of their bodies. We have worked very hard at The Gentle Barn to support our farm pigs to help them be mobile and comfortable longer. With the help of Sun Chlorella Algae Super Food, organic fruits and vegetables, exercise, and lots of love, Zeus has made it till twelve and he is still doing very well. We are ecstatic to have had him this long and we hope that he can continue to be part of our family for many years to come.
Please come out on Sunday, April 21st and sing happy birthday to our piggy Zeus, watch him eat cake, and enjoy the day with us. For tickets, directions, and more info, go to www.gentlebarn.org.
The Gentle Barn is home to animals rescued from severe abuse, and host to school field trips, private tours, and groups of at risk, inner city, and special needs children. We are open to the public every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to interact with animals and hear their stories of resilience.
