Major Impact Theater Expands Board with Valuable Community Members
A lot of exciting things have been happening at Major Impact Theater (MIT), the Santa Clarita based non-profit agency/theater group benefiting adults with disabilities. Not only has MIT formed a partnership with the Newhall Family Theatre, which enables them to host their most recent productions at their newly remodeled venue, MIT has also recently expanded their Board of Directors with valuable community members.
One of MIT’s newest initiatives is to develop an Actor Advisory Committee. This is made possible by the expansion of their Board, which has expanded MIT’s resources. Development and management of the new Actor Advisory Committee will be led by Board Member Jessica Morrow, who recently joined MIT’s Board. Jessica is the Assistant Executive Director and Employment Director at Jay Nolan Community Services, an organization established in 1975 to support children and adults with Autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Jessica has had long standing relationships with MIT supporters and family members, attending almost every play dating back to when MIT productions were hosted at LARC Ranch. She is passionate about meaningful, integrated, and values-based involvement for individuals with disabilities.
“I am now in a position where I have more time and flexibility and I can dedicate it to MIT,” said Jessica, “I would hope to bring my experience and willingness to learn new things and I’m excited. I think this Actor Advisory Committee could further empower our MIT actors!”
Jessica goes on to explain, “It is important to me to live a truly integrated life including relationships with people who experience disabilities. This is not only my chosen profession, but also a personal pursuit as I am an advocate for my brother who has Down Syndrome.”
MIT is very excited to now have Jessica on their Board of Directors and is looking forward to the development the Actor Advisory Committee. MIT’s next theatrical musical production, Magical Waters, will be on Saturday May 11, at 7 p.m. at the Newhall Family Theatre. In the meantime, actors are hard at work, learning their lines, practicing their dances, and readying for showtime.
