The Home of Curious Minds and Smiling Faces Creative Years Infant Center & Preschool
Celebrating four decades in the Santa Clarita Valley, Creative Years Infant Center & Preschool holds deeply rooted history in their walls. The building that originally housed Santa Clarita Hospital became the bright classrooms and wide hallways of the school back in 1979 when they first opened their doors. Forty years later, the school has 28 staff members and 200 students with a waiting list in some programs.
The use of color and wide space gives the school an open and welcoming atmosphere. With the addition of the Infant/Toddler center licensing in 2014, Creative Years was able to accept their first group of infants and celebrated their graduation to Kindergarten just last year. It was a huge milestone for the school.
“Creative Years was originally started by Gloria Stanton and Elinor McGraw, they occupied one end of the hospital facility that is shaped like a U. After Susan Grogan bought the school, she expanded it throughout the entire building. Katri and Cindy are the third owners and have been here since 2002. We are also fortunate to have a very low turnover rate so many of our teachers have been with us for a decade or more.”
“Our Motto is ‘Because it’s better for children and families’ and we believe that with all of our being. We pride ourselves on our creative curriculum as well as our art philosophy and everything we do is based upon what is best for the children first. I am also proud to send my son to an awesome school”, said Assistant Director Christine Mitchell.
Creative Years offers full day and half day programs that were specifically designed for parents to feel at ease. All classes have a small teacher to student ratio, so children receive individualized attention as well as a variety of environments. Each 45 minutes the children change classrooms so they visit the music, science/math, library, art and dramatic play rooms, along with large park like outdoor play yards with fantastic shade.
The name says it all, Creative Years believe that the early years of a child are the most impressionable and important to foster growth. They are the one and only center, they are not a chain—and you can expect 40 more years of love, learning and acceptance through our doors, says the current Director Denise Bayliss who has worked at the center for 21 years.
“We chose Creative Years for our daughter because it was such a warm, welcoming, organized and safe environment. Three years later, we are thrilled our son gets to experience all the same fun, art, music and excitement as his sister.” – The Gee Family
“The greatest testament to the environment at Creative Years is our children’s excitement to go to school each day. Every teacher has gone above and beyond to make sure they are engaged, learning, and having fun.” – The Carden Family
“Our family is so grateful for Creative Years. Our 19-month-old has flourished in her year there. Her teachers cheer her on like she’s their own, and it’s been so fun seeing her develop wonderful friendships at such a young age” – The Sullivan Family
“Creative Year’s Preschool has been a joyful experience! The staff is so kind and helpful and they create a nurturing environment. My children have loved all their teachers. We’ve enjoyed all the wonderful activities the school provides. They truly care about their families. If only we could stay in preschool forever.” – The Sharp Family
“Our son Ian has benefitted greatly from attending Creative Years having received a great foundation for learning and social interaction. The staff is top notch. The Santa Clarita Valley is fortunate to have such a fine institution for our youth.” – The McClain Family
